Visual Tree Assessment (VTA)

Often trees require a visual inspection when they are in an urban setting. The key to assessing a tree is to set aside time to look at the tree with a critical eye.

Assess the ground around the roots, the root flare, the trunk of the tree, the limb junctions, the major scaffold limbs, the branches,  miscellaneous hazards like fruit or hornets nests and then consider what the tree or tree part would hit if it fell.
